NATA PER TE (Born for You)
Italy 2024 | 113 min | Directed by: Fabio Mollo

“Alba has Down syndrome and is given up at the hospital immediately after her birth. Thirty families reject her before the court decides to entrust her to Luca Trapanese. He is gay, a practicing Catholic, and socially engaged—and he is not afraid. Luca has fought many battles, he knows pain and has learned to transform it and break down walls. He doesn’t do this out of pure charity: Luca simply wants a family. And to defend this wish, he has to make a decision…
Based on a heartbreaking true story, the film adaptation of the Italian bestseller of the same name tells a story of despair and hope in the fight for equality and social tolerance. A film about fearless love that knows no boundaries.” [Cinemien]

Dragfox
Switzerland, United Kingdom 2024 | 8:10 min | Directed by: Lisa Ott

Statement of the jury:

With Dragfox, the jury honours a film that tells a story of searching for and finding one’s true self with great sensitivity, subtle humour and impressive technical precision.

Using lovingly crafted stop-motion technology, director Lisa Lee Ott unfolds an imaginative world in which a curious child, a stolen dress and a mysterious city fox become symbols of courage, identity and self-acceptance.

What makes Dragfox so special is its accessibility: the film is not only aimed at children, but appeals to people of all ages – from the youngest to grandparents. With ease, wit and a big heart, the director explores themes such as gender, identity and drag in a charming, understandable and deeply moving way. In this way, she succeeds in building bridges – even to those who may be encountering these topics for the first time.

The rousing music and the noticeable attention to detail make Dragfox a harmonious work of art that has been thought through down to the smallest detail.

Every moment is perfect, every image conveys emotion – carried by fantastically composed music that moves and inspires.

An emotionally touching, enchanting and at the same time powerful film – so valuable that you want to see it more than once.

Dragfox reminds us how beautiful and liberating it is to truly arrive at ourselves.
